Mk2 VTS Rad on Mk1 VTR query!

  1. #1
I've had a look around and not found what I'm after.

Is it possible to have the MK2 VTS Rad on a Mk1 VTR. Only thing I noticed differently was the blue plug on the radiator. VTS rad doesn't have this.

    *What is this plugs purpose?
*Is it possible to make it work without it?

    Thanks

The blue plug on the VTS rad is a thermostat, you could run the radiator without the thermostat plugged in i think...

Fitting wise, the VTS rad would fit your VTR as the front ends are identical so the holes will be there but I'm sure your fan wont fit onto it as there's no holes for the VTR fan mount to screw onto.

The VTR fans sit behind the rad and the fan mount screws onto it, sucking cold air through the rad. The VTS fan sits in front of the rad on a seperate mount and blows air through rather than sucking.

Sure it's possible as my rad is alot bigger that the standard one on my vtr so I assume its a vts one (I have a vts twin fan setup too). The pipes are different so you will need them and I suggest you wire up a second fan to a dash switch as the standard one seems to have a tendency to not work.

Ok, thank you both for replies. I haven't had a fan attached on my rad (VTR) for the last few months as there's no space for it. So with this rad, for now, I won't be too concerned.

Blue plug is on my VTR rad but not on the VTS rad I got. So will it be fine to leave it unplugged as the blue plug isn't on radiator that I swapped over.

Note; No lights appear on dash and temp gauge is still working.

    Thanks
