Rad not kicking in?!

  1. #1
For the past week or so my fan on my rad has not been kicking in. So my car is getting stupid hot!

Been looking round on here n understand saxos do tend to run quite hot. But still no fan. Ive checked simple things like fuses, wireing and changed the thermostat but im all out of ideas

Anyone got any clue what it could be?

    Thanks in advance guys

    Change the fan switch

it's underneath the top hose connection on the rad

Have you tested the Fan itself?

    Haha lol.

Get two bits of wire, get someone to hold them on your battery one on + one on - and then take the plug off of the Fan, and put one wire on one prong and the other on the other prong. You can't blow the Fan because if you put them one way it'll spin clockwise and if you change the wire around it'll spin anticlockwise lol.

Simple way to test if it works or not

Haha you're welcome, just a word of advice as I thought you might do it automatically but I think I'll tell you incase you don't lol.

On the eds of the wire you'll be putting on the Fan, it might be worth sticking some Female crimps on them so you can slide them on the prongs then there's no chance of you touching them and damaging your battery lol.

Ok from looking at it the is 2 cables coming from the center of the fan, not sure if its been replaced but they have been cut and now held in place with small terminals, do i just replace the wire thats chased back into the engine and wire that too the battery to test it or direct from the switch.

    Sorry to be a pain

I'd just run two new wires... Only to test it these ain't permanent... So take the wires from the Fan and do what I said

That way you'll know if it works or not, if the Fan works, then you know it's a wiring problem, switch problem or fuse problem
