Changing an ECU question

  1. #1
    Hi people,

Ive just bought an unlocked ecu (thanks DusheR) as i have a bloody flashing key on my dash and citroen say they can reprogramme my key. So to fit the unlocked ECU do i need to disconnect the battery, remove old ecu, transponder box and the aerial around the ignition barrell. Then plug in the unlocked ECU, connect the battery and start the car?

    is this correct??

    thanks

    sam

If it's unlocked, you can literally unplug the old ECU and fit the new one. Don't think you need to fart on disconnecting the battery.

will having my transponder in lock the ecu again??

I need to know the same, i dont think the pick up ring does anything but the black imobilizer box has to be removed as that will lock the ecu again.

I'm 99% sure once it's unlocked, that's it. Should work on any 3 plug VTS no problem.

Ok I think I mite remove the transponder just incase. But you recon I can leave the battery on

You can leave the battery connected but am not sure if you have to remove your immobiliser first before fitting the unlocked ecu? Am waiting on a new ecu for my vtr and unsure what is the correct way of replacing it with the old 1 ??

Remove the immobolisher box first, then it's just plug and play, not 100% sure if you have to remove it or not, but best to be safe
