Gearbox Removal?

  1. #1
    Hiya guys,

I've just removed the engine and box as one from the car, but am not sure what socket i need to separate the box from the engine.

I've tried a torx socket but it doesn't seem to fit exactly and i dont want to ruin the bolts and be stuck.

    Any help gratefully received

iirc it an 8mm hex head? hence the torx fitting but not close enough.

Cheers, I had to use an extansion bar on the ratchet as they were 'welded' in. I think i'm going to buy 4 new ones when putting it back in.

    Thanks for your help.

Just stick a bit of copper grease on them if you're worried about them seizing.

Personally i dont bother with copper slip though as i've seen a fair few of the big allen bolts work loose on their own.
