Important! : Erratic Idle Revving SOLVED!!!!

  1. #1
After hunting around the forums for a solution to the frequent problem of erratic idling I found the solution that worked for me! I did not need to clean the ICV or any other sensor but merely needed to disconnect battery overnight, do the 5 turn ignition to reset CPU and bingo, my constant revving all gone! Means I can drive car now rather than it driving itself!

    Hopes this info helps somebody!

    *awaits "its back"*

Good for you if the reset worked but the ecu doesn't usually go nuts on its own. I'd say its most likely a dodgy sensor on its way out so you may have only postponed the effects for a while.

Problem with erratic idling idleing is that the source can be a whole host of things... Anything from the obvious coil pack/dirty injector/spark plugs/fuel filter/icv etc to the likes of the engine temperature sensor which was my biggest problem.

Even when you change stuff like the ICV, in my case the brand new one lasted 6 months. Had to replace it again last weekend... Just the luck of the draw really

As above, and I also put down disconnect the battery in the clean the ICV guide. Its only a temporary fix and about as good as turning your radio up so you cant hear a problem.
