Apex vs gmc springs

  1. #1
Hi guys, im currently running b8's with gmc 40mm springs, however id like to go a little lower. I have some apex 50mm springs from the apex kit knocking about.

How will the apex springs work with the billies? Anyone know the spring rates?

    Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know the spring rates but I can tell ya the GMC will be alot stiffer.

Im runnin the apex kit myself, the springs on it are designed to match the dampers which are just fast road dampers.

The gmc ones are designed for stiffer dampers like the B8s and are a higher poundage, so would be alot better matched.

Probably only tellin you what you already know, just sayin its probably not worth the time and effort coz the GMC will likely work better.

Thats pretty much What I thought, but the apex kit feels much stiffer to me.

Apex springs will be around 120lbishhh give or take 10lb

GMCs will be aroud 180lbish cant remember the exact amount im too tired.

cheers db-sax. Could any of you reccomend a decent spring for my b8's, id like something that will lower about 50mm, and about a 200-220lb spring rate?

Would these be any good? http://www.kamracing.co.uk/index.php...roen-saxo.html

Those springs are about the same lb as standard springs.

You wont relly be able to go that far down with 190lb+ spings on standard setup without them sitting in the spring pans proerly.

I assume you mean with them sitting in the spring pan properly. Would I be better off with a set of coilovers Or a coilover conversion? Just had a look at the rally design coilover conversion. I may start A thread on them later.

Yeh coilovers will be what you want if you want to go lower with a higher lb spring.
