After many months of the motor sat in the drive and having to well... hold my head in shame..
Drive a turq/blue 1.2 clio to work everyday for the last 9 months.. i decided to finish sorting the VTR out and get her back on the road...
After a couple of weeks i lowered her as had to replace whole rear end suspention anyway, replaced rear clusters for smoked ones, refurbed all 4 wheels so they look brand spankers, waxed and polished her all up, full inside and out job courtesy of works materials
I drop her down to MOT station and noticed a little bit more play in gear lever then i remember just assumed it might of been where id been driving the clio for so long so didnt think much of it.
Anyway she flew through MOT with a few advisories ( headlight loose and all the normal mumble jumble ) so was pleased with that since she has been sat a while.
Jumped in her today and noticed alot more play in the gear lever and i mean alot, after speaking to one of my mates he said its normally the gear linkages, possibly worn or need adjusting.. i have no idea as im no mechanic and normally everything i touch breaks into a million little pieces. ( brute force and a hammer is not always the way to fix something it seems )
Anyways, after a hard days graft today im heading home, some little peanut in a punto is sitting on my arse all the way through the traffic and come the duel carrage way he tries to undertake me so everytime he gets up next to me i pop my foot down a little moer just to piss him off..
After about 3 miles of this i start smelling what seems to be burning oil now im not sure if it was mine or his struggling to keep up. at the next set of lights i come to a stop and theres mr punto revving the crap out his car next to me with his little goofy mates in the back so.. whats a fella to do..
come to the next set of lights i pull off normally becasue by this stage the punto is about 4 miles behind me, but as soon as i go to pop into 2nd she wont go and slips into 4th.. so i try to pop back into 2nd and she still refuses to go so i settled for 3rd.. next set of lights same problem, she does go into 2nd but i have to use quite abit of force, every other gear is perfectly fine...
I guess after my pointless essay, what im asking is, is this down to gear linkages or is the box on the blink? i dont really have the cash laying about for a new box
any advice would be greatfully accepted.
