decat cat back

Hi I have a x reg vtr it has the dark grey engine so fink the cat is in front not under but wot I want to know is. I have a 3 inch sportex backbox but it ante very loud would it a lot louder with just a cat back and would it pop or do I need to de cat to get the pop. Also how does it stand with having a decat by law as I don't fink u can insure one any help would be great. Thanks martin
