Windows wont clean

  1. #1
for the last week I have tried everything to clean my windows, the minute I use the wipers they smear all over.... I have tried vinegar, I have taken the wipers off and cleaned them with vinegar until there is no more black mark coming off...

I then replaced the windscreen wipers with some from a seller on ebay called redline (see him reccomended on here) same problem,

Today I smothered the windows in vinegar gave it a good rub in, then power washed off it off... removed windscreen wipers and gave them a clean in vinegar like before, and as soon as I put them back on it smears again...

I think when I washed the car last I put wash and wax on the windows then I used Rain-X over that.... well im guessing thats what the problem is... But is there anything I can use to get it off.... the back window is just as bad as the front... and my MOT is on monday and im guessing when they check them they will say they arent doing there job properly...

    All help appreciated

I think the mot is check the window wipers for any signs of wear as long as the wipers seem in good condition then that shouldnt be a problem.. they only looked at mine at my mot never gave them a try. Does it smear only when spraying the window with the wiper bottle ? Mines does this a bit but fine when raining

take it your using white vinegar as normal vinegar dont give the same affect

Unfortunalty not, if it rains it smears, from the bottle it smears too.... and it can take quite a while to clear too... I tried to rub it with paper towel and it smears and marks just the same

yes I applied it on a kitchen towel and gave it a good rub.. left it a minute to work in then blasted it off with the power washer....

I was wondering if I could use something like Meths on the window but didnt want to if it could do more harm than good..

i use white vinegar and just put about 4 drop on a micro fibre cloth go over the windscreen leave it on for about 10 minutes then just take it off with anoth cloth and work really well only thing i can surgest would be to clay bar the windscreen

Try some good old washing up liquid if you've not already, i had same issue ages ago with mine, turns out the car used to go through a carwash and the wax they used at the time was complete shite, i tried white vinigar, bought window polish, soaked wipers in pepsi (dont laugh its actually very good for cleaning grubby shit)

In the end i smothered the screen in washing up liquid, left it there for abit, then came out with some hotwater and scrubbed the screen, never had an issue with smeers since.

Although, due to washing up liquid all over my car i did have to rewax her after

i have the same dam problem mate. i;ve thrown everything i have to cleaning what ever it is on the screen nothing seems to work!!!
but on plus side went through mot fine.
my last hope is to put some petrol on the screen see if that clears it up fingers crossed

dont use petrol it will leave it even worse. use meth's "the purple stuff" to clean it and get new wipers.

flush out your window sprayer with a few litres of water, then replece with window wash and give the windows a good polish, if its still smearing check if the wipers are pressing into the windows with enough pressure so you wiper arm isnt damaged

I used a load more vinegar, and then gave it a final clean with Autoglym Glass cleaner... So far so good... I also washed out the water bottle like suggested incase the contamination came from there... thanks everyone for all the help
