vts fuel pump??

   hi i have just put another fuel pump in my mk1 vts as the other 1 decided to pack up well i think! as it wouldnt start and was not letting any fuel to the engine!! so i got another pump from the scrappy and installed it yesterday all seemed fine till i took my daughters swimming.... basically running fine till she started to cut out just like the last 1 after giving it a smack on top of the pump a few times i managed to get her going again. now the question is could this be a dodgy pump from the breakers or maybe another problem with the car? please help :o(

   I would recommend getting a new pump, as you had to give it a tap or two to get it working again, as LeeM said it could be a relay try swapping it with a spare one,

   Almost defo sounds like the fuel pump relay had it go on mine before Christmas! It's under the ecu left side of the engine bay. I opened mine up and it had decided to melt itself a little. Hope this helps

   If it's the same as a mk1 vtr I've got one I'd sell if it does turn out to be that

   Turns out the pump they gave me was the wrong 1 as it couldn't build up enough pressure seems fine now. Cheers
