VTS Gearbox top speed?

  1. #1
Quick question what speed does the 'S box top out?

As we all know the 1.1 box is 110-115ish...

    Cheers hombres

    Depends on the rev limit.

The 1.1box could do 200mph with enough bhp and revs.

If it wasn't on standard limiter? Reason i ask is somebody says the standard box tops out at 135? and Im sure thats not right!

So we could say that if the limiter was raised the box could easily take 145-150mph?

Oh god, dont talk to me about 1.1 gearboxs, i blew the diff on mine 3 days after fitting it, the speed i was doing? I just hit 75mph getting onto a dual carriageway

I got 136 from my standard (apart from exhaust) 2002 vts it still had more to go but my balls didnt,

Got just over 140 in my old 2000 vts a few years ago, i said id never do it again cause that kid of speed in a little car is bloody scary,

I didnt take the pic by the way my mate did, my hands where tightly gripping the wheel, i had to be prised off when i pulled up,
    Deffo never again.

i've had 145 out of my vts gearbox, that with cat cam 708s and a kms ecu with a rev limit of 7800rpm

    with 195-45-15 (55.7cm diameter) tyres fitted & .085 5th gear & 3.94 FD.

    7k rpm = 136mph
    8k rpm = 156mph
    9k rpm = 175mph
    10k rpm = 195mph

Will your VTS rev to 10k rpm in 5th?

Handy website for gear calc stuff...

This will explain why i can only get 120mph at nearly 6k revs with a vtr box, its slower low down until it hits 4k then it takes off. Iv got a 16v but the limiter is set to 6250revs!! how can i get this removed? is it possible to have it completely removed so it would keep going?

the limiter is there for a reason. If you want to wave goodbye to your engine just keep revving.....
