Important! : My Squeeky Brembos!

Yes, I know there are many threads about this problem, and I've read them all! But I just need some extra guidance.

So, I'm running 406 Coupe Brembo's. Goodridge Braided Hoses. Mintex 1144 Pads. Maxtorq Group N disks.

So, I've read the thread about getting the Xantia 283mm disks, so I went and purchased some. Took them to the garage to get fitted and they told me they're the wrong offset? I paid £62 for the two disks, so I'm just wondering if anyone has a solution to this?

Please help me as I'm about to jump off a clif! The squeel is driving me crazy!

(I can't afford to buy Hi-Specs or Wilwoods, so that's not a solution!)

    Many Thanks Guys...

The wrong offset as in the disk sits slighlty off the centre of the caliper? Thats okay, mine are like that too.

As for the squeel, i dont personally think there is a solution. The 406 owners apparently complain of it too... I find that mine are silent if i do medium/heavy braking. They only squeel when i come to slow stop, ie the traffic lights you can see up ahead are at red.

Try putting some copper grease on the pads should surpress the noise...obviously not on the friction material you'll end up going faster with them on lol

i've got 266mm brake setup they squeel constantly, you get use to it tried lots of copper grease this works for a few weeks then wears off, think you need to get some kind of shims made up.

Does anyone have any more information on the Xantia 283mm disks? Does it matter that the disk sits slightly off the centre of the calliper?

no i dont think it does mate, the brembro squeal is the whole reason i avoided them, have a look 4on a 406 owners site mate and see if they have found a cure for it yet
