    Alrite lads,

had a vtr 2001 about a month now.. first car and all... lookin to start modding.. got a few problems though..

does anyone know the best power bands for the best performance??

What would a bmc induction and mongoose system add to my car?? how much power much sound?

how much is it to have standard vtr wheels sprayed black??

    Nice one lads..

replace the manifold, remove the cat, enclosed induction kit, vts or 1.1 box, get rid of back seats will be a faster car then.

wheels roughty cost £30-40 each to spray.

do the wheels ureself its easy, yeah do as ratty says and ull notice loads off difference

    As Ratty said.....

Buy a descent branded exhaust ie. Magnex or Piper

Enclosed kit such as a Green enclosed or BMC

Manifold you will probably want a 4-1 either GMC or Piper

Changing the gearbox will make a very noticable difference acceleration wise

And upon loseing the back seat rid the spare wheel and cage, rear wipe and motor andf anything else you may wish to loose without messing the car up.

Oh yeah while i remmember only fill up with small ammounts of petrol ie 10er as this will also keep the wieght down.

Rattys price is about right for having the wheels sprayed powder coating will be extra but more hard wearing.

fold your rear seats down to reduce weight.

Thats good help thanks... i am looking to get a mongoose or magnex system... and combine it with a bmc or green tyhoon induction kit....

Bearing in mind that vtr does 0-60 in 9 and the vts in 7.5.. with only 20 brake difference thats nearly a second every 10 brake... so its going to have a great effect..

I also think i might be losing power... i raced a 1.4 furio and this seemed to keep up?? it had an air filter but its stil 2 secs slower 2 60... like me racing a vts...

What are the powerbands for a vtr?? so i can make sure i am changing right

    Cheers

mentions of racing wont go down too well, as that seems to get saxo drivers labelled as gay boy racers.

for maximum acceleration (when doing something sensible like overtaking) you dont want to take the engine into the red line as there is bugger all torque passed peak power anyway.

Peak Torque on a VTR is at 3000rpm and Peak Power is at 5600rpm

aim to shift so that when the rpm drops from the gear change it is just above peak torque. Obviously there is a lot more to getting good acceleration through the gears as the gearbox is a torque multiplier - but usually what i said above will get you accelerating pretty well.
