Rust removal

Right, i know Saxos like to rust, its quite common ive read in the bay around ecu area, and ive noticed mine is the same.

I took a pic to show everyone. Was wondering what my options are for the amount ive got

Have i caught it early enough that I can put some 'rustnot' black spray on that will hopefully stop and protect that area?
Or am I better getting a plate welded on and spraying?

I have a similar amount of rust in my bay, I plan on sanding it all down, using a wire brush attachment on a drill and applying some rust treatment and Hammerite.

wire brush it (drill mounted one is better) some k-rust treatment then a good few coats of paint wouldn't use hammerite though i would use propper automotive paint even halford's paint if you have to. and providing you do it right with the k rust left to set and chemically change the rust you shouldn't be seeing it again in the same place.

Sounds good too me, happy I caught that bit before I have to go to the extremes of welding it

think by the time you've rubbed that down it'll be either paper thin or have a hole, the metals only wafer thin on the inner wings anyway

done the same area, but I didn't wait for it to get that bad. Hammerited it, no problem since. Keep an eye on it for a few weeks once you're done (check for bubbling)

Its not started bubbling yet, first thing I did was give it a poke to see if it had rusted all the way through!
But ill rub it down and see what I find. If it needs a little weld then its not a problemo
