right my car keeps overheating its not the head gasket as its new.
iv put a new rad and rad cap in, new thermostat flushed the engine and rad out. heats fine on idle but as soon as i take it for a drive it overheats after 5 mins of driving. also the heating is hot but as soon as the fan kicks in it turns cold.

    PLEASE HELP!

Forgot to say iv bled it and it still carrys on.

only thing i can think of is a blockage somewhere but if you have flushed it all out im not sure :/

Is the thermostat the right way round? The side with the spring should point away from the radiator.

Has the water pump bust the impeller off ?

Why do you think its overheating? The fan will always kick in if you leave it idling long enuff

Because the temp gauge goes to the top and the red light comes on

does the fan kick in? have you got an air lock in the pipes bleed the coolant properley? are you getting warm air through the heaters?

Yes the fan kicks in iv bled it following the guide in the haynes manual.
The heaters blow hot air until the fan cuts in then they go cold.
