track brakes setup

allo ..

i´ve upgraded my track saxo cup (vts) , but never happy whith the brakes,
i was using 266 whith ebc green and srf castrl comp oil, but they burn after 2 trackdays!!but yes they tho brake...

used ferrodo and chinese pads and the go fast and pedal fells soft...

I like last minute hard brake ...looking for a racing setup, any help?

race setup : i neead the hard fell to last 30 minuts without destroy disks and pads.

Ebc green are a bit rubbish the yellow are much much better

Ferrodo ds 2500 are a good pad otherwise mintex 1155 (i have these in my high spec 4pistons on my 106)

Otherwise larger is better at dissipating the heat and cooling ducts help a lot

I can only comment on what ive used, from experience the ds2500 in 266mm brakes were still pretty crap for me, i cooked a set in 1 track day!

Now got hi-spec 4 pots with mintex 1155's and they are much better, although i still think they could be better with some carbon loraine RC6+ pads

talking on hi-specs..are they beter then the brembo 283 convercion?

opinions?for track use only!

i ve also monted scoops for brake refrigeracion.
will post fotos...

If you want the best get pagid rs 4 2 blue or 4 4 orange compound pads.

Neither are cheap but they are just about the best pads on the market.

Ebc greenstuff are best used as paper weights!.

I like my hispec 283mm's for my saxo track car, but im only running a westcoast chassis, so am going to fit a vts servo and 23mm MC and should see a nice improvement in them fingers crossed!

CL Brakes RC5+ are comparable friction level to the Pagids, work better at high temperature and are cheaper.

The RC5+ is not quite as aggressive friction, but its consistent which is key to driving fast on circuit. Its also will not wear out the disks as fast, is quieter and does not have any dust issues. The Pagid is better at 500 C but cant cope above 600 C whereas all the CL brakes pads work at temperatures that would melt the pagid from its backplate. This means smaller and lighter brakes can be used - far more suited to trackday cars and fast road cars. Theres nothing wrong with the Pagid but they tend to be more temperature sensitive. On the road they will certainly not be running near optimum and so their peak figures are irrelevant to most, and so they compare nicely on friction co-efficient for regular use.

The RC6 is the CL Brakes main race pad and hits the market of the pagid blue. That outperforms the pagid at every temperature going. If Pagid were £30-40 a set cheaper then i'd like them a lot more but theres a better and cheaper alternative.

me too in hispec 285 kit. can lock the fromts at 100 easily. i would say i drive hard. yellows have more than half left and have done 2 trackdays.

i used omp and ds25 in my old 266 calipers. omp was good for lasting ds was better bite but shit out after 2 full days in summers

as josh said the 1155 is a great setup.

i use the rc6 carbon loraine pad in my hi-spec 4 pots and they are awesome. you really couldnt ask for anymore with them.

only trouble is finding some good quality discs that will not warp at the sight of over 50% braking effort.
with some descent discs i challenge anyone in a 106/saxo to outbrake me.

can vouch for the rc6 too tbh. always confidence in the brakes being there/powerfull enough.

you need more disc to absorb the heat --so 285mm discs and wheels that have good ventilation ,or 290mm + 4pots --your wheel size will decide what you can fit .
If you cannot fit larger than 270mm due to wheels --then go for thicker rotors --brakes are all about absorbing the heat .
std OE discs will never take the heat that proper race rotors+bells will .

if you keep the heat down you do not need as hard a pad

and will put new disks.

anyone know the rc6 266mm pads reference?

and were to buy?

maybe next year i´ll buy the alcom kit...or the cheaper hi-specs.
