ecu

Just a quick question I have a 106 gti engine with the head ported and polished with new valves and catcams 708 and looking to put on throttal body’s on. I have a 4 into 1 manifold with suppersprint centre and 2”kamracing exhaust. I know I need a remap and that but would it be better with a stand alone ECU or just a remap what would be better for the engine

as far as im aware, there are very few ppl in the country that can/will map a stock ecu with throttle bodies, so if your going that far you need minimum standalone ecu, its not worth remapping a standard, for a few hundred more youll have a better ecu with better capabilities, which can be transeferred about/ re used or sold when wanted

standalone is the way forward with a high spec engine. It allows greater flexibility to have the map tweaked rather than redone each time. Also gives you more choice of local mappers rather than having to travel across the UK to find somebody that can map the standard ecu.
