Important! : Sticking at 3k revs on Idle!

  1. #1
    Hi guys,

The VTR wouldn't start this morning and looked like the battery was dead. I jump started it and now it starts but it idles at 3k when not even touching the throttle. I have no idea what it is but I tried unplugging a few sensors whilst the engine was running and when I unplugged the sensors highlighted in the picture the revs dropped down and the car dies eventually if you don't rev it.

Does that mean the sensor is not working properly? Also, which sensor is that?

    Thanks in advance,

    Carlos

    daft question.

Have you checked the basics.. does the throttle close properly?

If so, when you turn the ignition on can you hear a clicking from the irv. you should do, its calibrating itself.

It closes properly mate and I've tried re-adjusting the throttle cable in different positions as well but no luck.

It's definitely not the sensor highlighted in the picture then?

Whwn i unpluged that sensor the revs died then when it got put back in it was a pain to start and messed the revs up..

When I plug it back in, like I said.. my revs just go back to 3k.

    Bump.

Anybody else got a solution? Went for a drive and the car drives itself when in gear because it's revving when not touching the throttle..
