i am getting the car remapped tomorrow.

is there anything i should look out for? or just any tips to be on the precautionary side.

i am using the company http://www.black-code.co.uk/

they looked quite trust worthy, and reasonably priced.

    thanks for any advice.

Ask them what they have changed, ask to see the changes on the laptop.

depends on what cam, to get the best out of the upgrade you would be best remaping so I would save the money up and remap last

Personally, I would save your money mate - I'd be very surprised if you didn't end up with some sort of superchips/ similar generic remap flashed onto the ECU.

It's an N/A petrol with just breathing mods, realistically, I doubt a generic remap is going to make any sort of noticeable difference to how it drives.

If you decide to drop a high lift cam in, get a 'proper' map written for the car by Chipwizards. Alternatively, go for a standalone ECU - this will give you more choice on where to get it mapped.

As people have said the mapping should be the last thing you do. If you where to get a any significant mod down the line you would have to get it mapped again. Be warned most places that say they tune a car don't. They scank you with some generic map. There is not much point getting a stock or close to car mapped.

If i dont feel anything that noticable, i have 14 days to get a refund, and everything put back to how it was, which is good!

how much was the remap ???
  14. #14
as said above should get a cam then go for it bud , but i know this example is diiferent car but my mate had his 2010 renaultsport twingo re-mapped all it had was a panel filter which was supplied by k-tec before the re-map , the car was ment to be 133bhp from the factory dont know if thats at the fly or wheels but it was no where near that more like 120bhp but from the re-map he gained 13.8bhp which as the blokes said at k-tec a very good gain , and when we drove home the car felt more revvy and just generally that there was more power lower down the revs aswell , so i hope you get a good result with yours aswell bud

Factory give flywheel figures they are 133 ATF them little thinks

just been on there sites and all the reviews/testimonials are from customers with diesels , like 6 bmw diesels , range rover diesel , audi a6 diesel , golf tdi . the only petrol i can see is a golf gti tfsi . the company seem pretty genuine and not going to just put a crappy generic map on as they say all maps are custom map in house in the uk for the customers needs/wants

Also while this thread is here I got a couple of Q's about going to get car mapped

Should you run higher rater or normal petrol for mapping?
Any point in changing oil and filter for some new fresh stuff?
    Same with spark plugs?
Anything else that should be recommended to have done

Would certainly be worthwhile giving the car a full service beforehand.

However would suggest its not worth using higher octane petrol purely for the purposes of mapping if you never use the better stuff or have no intention of using the higher grade stuff following the remap.

Myself I use normal petrol then once a month ill fill the car with Vpower. No real reason why I do this.
Am I better off sticking to one style?

May have to get dirty and give the car a service this weekend then, even though its not been long since its last one

yer 95 will be ok for a normal engine the 99 v power is ok too, up to you what you want to use.

i have to use v power as high compression engine need better fuel, but that the reason i do and it was mapped using v power, i dnt never use bp or anything like that just v power.

plus i have a v power card so get rewards

The car was unable to be remapped, because his software couldnt find my ecu, i think he was using the kess software, or kezz.

They were charging £300 but i knocked it down to £250. But to no avail.
  23. #23
bit shit about the outcome bud , but now you can wait and get it cammed then go for the re-map and when you book next time its better to book it in at a place that includes a before remap dyno run , and a run after some places will give a after run then another to see if they can change the map again to get a tiny bit extra power , when you go give the car a new oil filter , fresh oil , new spark plugs and most places places will reccomend that you use a higher octane fuel after the re-map to get the most from the car and the new map

Probably a good thing mate, will give you chance to get it cammed first.
You will see a much better gain then after remap
