What engine is it? Also depends on if the head need skimming which would be good to do, but shouldn't be too much I would do if for about 250 if it is a 1.1.

Have you considered doing it yourself? It's not too difficult on an 8-valve, especially if you are mechanically minded. The parts are about £60. Otherwise, as said above, it will be around £250 -300

If it has never overheated you probably won't need to have the head skimmed.

I would always get a lite skim anyway just to make 100% it ok, and be more than 60 for parts, but not too much cambelt kit and the head gaskets new oil and filter plugs, I would do a serivce aswell in the price I said, but that me though,

Depends on the garages labour prices per hour tbh

I would say £80-£150 including parts

Be around 150 really, depends on just belt? Or full cambelt kit, and maybe a water pump

well cars in the garage. he doesnt think its HG. hes away to do tests etc thinks it could be block somewere or water pump. heres hopin its that how much think that will cost ? anythings better than HG price lol
  11. #11
it if the block it will be more costly, if the block is cracked then new engine really. and i would do a water pump with a cambelt change.

for a 1.1 for a full kit and water pump would be able, 150 quid ish at max.
  12. #12
if its water pump, its still going to be timing belt, tensioner, water pump, would say about £200 m8 at a garage.
id do it for £100 dnt you have a m8 that could???
  13. #13
na 200 quid i would say that high, as a 1.1 cambelt kit will be about 60 quid water pump about 30 quid, take about an hour to do the job. but a garage might charge more, but i would offer to do the job for 150 if it was me doing it.

Cheers lads well hes gonna test stuff etc flush it out see whats up then get back to me let me know before he goes ahead and does anything. ive got £300 to get it fixed so hopefully that will cover it
  15. #15
garage just phoned will be £285 to get it fixed. he said the headgasket is fine its the water pump so hes replacing water pump, timing belt, thermostat flushing coolant system and the engine.

Think thats a fair price ? but late if it isnt as i just told him to do it no car for a week till i can pay for it gutted lol
