right i keep gettin told HID kit will burn through angel eyes.
from some research "Projected angel eyes" are the ones that handle HID kits? is this true? as i have some comin on the way and daren't fit them in!

this is the one i bought
    LINNKKKKK

and this is irrelevent..but angel eye rings look white/yellow in day light and apparently look white/blue in the dark? this true?

    thanksssssssssssssssss!!!

I know that my angel eyes can't take HID's (it has a sticker on them saying so) if they are new then there should be an instruction booklet say what you can and can't do. If not find a number for the company that made then and ask them direct, if they say yea then GET IT IN WRITING that HID's can be used because if not you will have to fork out to repalace them.

If I where you I would leave them be because the builds they have are excellent and the second you start changing things it will void you warranty (if you have one).

Basicly don't bother with HID's in angel eyes

cheers for the tip! i was thinkin lettin it be aswell sounds too much messin about for my liking to be honest and dont wanna end up killin the angel eyes coz that be a horrible waste...only thing thats puzzling me is, alot of posts and people claimin modern hid kits and specificaly designed so they dont melt lenses in headlights and assumin those hid kits would cost more than the shitty common ones. i contacted the ebay retailer and asked if they fit hids if so which brand if not get anythin positive then will take ur advise on board n stick to my legend standard holos!

HID's are a very touchy subject, I know people with the same car diffent HID kit (not cheap) and one has had massive problems with dissvolouringnand melting of the lense

i had hid's in my mk2 angel eyes even tho they had the stickers saying no on for over 2years and to give you a idea of how much shit that sticker is i had 8k lamps and two 4.5hour drives a week that took place in the dead of night, so long enough for them to get so hot they should of melted through and guess what still working to this day not a single thing wrong with them

    I'm also debating whether to get some HID's for my angels and would like to know if anyone's attempted to put any HID's on these mk1 angels;

As my angels only work at night from the little side light located just on the side of the angel.

Very hit and miss indeed, so much so that no ones actually posted a picture of the "problem." Ive personally never seen the HIDs damage an angle eye before and my mates currently have corsas with angels and HIDs for just under 2 years now.

I got 6k hids in my mk2 angels, nothings wrong with them. And the beam is spot on when adjusted correctly compared to normal headlights without projectors.

Ive had xenon's in all my cars because I do most of my driving (and living) in the dark, and I value been able to see. Don't take any notice of stickers on the back saying don't fit HID bulbs - its all to do with the legality of them, nothing to do with them burning out. The manufacturers are just covering themselves because by law the only way to have xenon lighting is factory fitted, E-approved, self levelling, washer-jet cleaned headlights. On a saxo, this is very unlikely - however if you have them properly adjusted - pointing on the road and not blinding everyone - nothing comes close to been as good, they will last for years and pass an MOT every time.

Never fit xenons to standard headlights - it just doesn't work. Projector lens are the only way.

Are they mk1's on yours mate?
  12. #12
    Yep

And what xenons/hid's are they ?
Were they hard to fit, I have the exact same angels, I think anyway

Not at all, just a case of mounting the ballasts + wiring them in.

They're 6000k ones buddy - to be honest they look better than that picture looks - if my car wasn't on stands and it wasn't pissing it down then id get better pictures with the beam cut off. They reflect cats eyes and road signs about 3x better than halogens. I had 8000k on before but they were too blue for my liking. These shine mainly while close up (driving distance) fading to blue/purple when you get a mile away and see the cut off line.

    Wicked nice one mate cheers

EDIT : by the way how much were they and did you replace the sidelights to ?

No problem mate, if you go for it and are handy with electronics - adjust the main beam wiring so it doesn't turn off the HID's when you switch it on. Xenons take a few seconds to warm up which is definitely not ideal if your on some dark country lane doing 60 with a tractor coming the other way

    Haha fair enough, cheers mate

Think the Xenon/HID kit was about £80 on ebay - back in 2007 when these kits where newish and 'expensive'. This has been swapped between cars and the same kit (normal size ballasts) can be picked up from £29 ( Ebay >>> ) . You can get slim ballasts but I don't know how reliable these are because ive never had to change mine

Sidelights are wired to the angel rings

Did you buy your HIDs from that seller? (mototekc)

No... ive no idea who I got mine off it was years ago (first car). Was from China though, just go for the best feedback rating when you go foreign on ebay - I know its abit hit and miss with chinese.
