carrying it on!

ok ill presume this will be an interesting topic to read!

If you were to take a stock VTS & race it down the srtip to 60mph against a VTR with an S1 106 rallye gearbox in, which would you think would get to 60mph the quickest!?

Having had a 106 rallye box im my R with breathing mods to compliment things i know id think the VTR would get there 1st. also ahead of a few other fast cars too.

Just interested in ppls points of view for discussion, interesting to see what the tech heads have to say about this...

i think VTS, although im a noob sooo
  3. #3
i had a friend with a rally who got a vtr engine in and it was quicker than my girlfriends vts. so vtr would be i recon.

can we get some ratios for the rallye box? then i could probably tell you definately.

Trying to rack my head to remember your car at FCS dude - was a MK2 was it? so 98hp.

    only 20hp down...

VTR is about 20kg lighter than the VTS

VTS has a lower rolling radius (so better acceleration)
VTS 'box is quite short as it is

would have to be one short box i reckon... which then means time shifting will effect the acceleration...

but if you can dig out some ratios that'd be ace.

vts hands down! if you keep the revs over 4k then the vts will fly

mines an early MK2 cat under car model RRd @ 110bhp with 110lbs/ft ro torque just an open pipercross filter & exhaust no cat from down pipe back, with standard box in, that was by power engineering, so a very well known company in teh world of tuning!

the ratios of the rallye box are shorter than a miget with no legs!! with a rallye box the limiter restricts the VTR to 110mhp dead!! pulling away in 5th gear was a great party trick!!

dont think there is much in them to 60 when they both use the same box, so a vtr with a shorter box id say would be damm close.

    interesting reading sum may think!

I can stick with a VTS to 60 then the VTS pulls away.

The acceleration seems to not be as effective after 60 with a 1.1 box

Still not bad for my spec.....

next time you need a new box put a 1.4 west coast box in! thatll be alot mroe fun in sure a 1.1 box must be murder in 5th down the motor way..... thirtsy work!

    short box+loads of revs=wheelspin and a slow 0-60
  12. #12
Not doubting you westy but are you sure your car has 110Bhp (as in at the wheels???)

Because that is higher than what the VTS outputs at the wheels

all figures from a rollign road are taken at the wheels, then some places will apply a mathimatical forumla to guesstimate the fly figure.

The only way to measure fly figures accurately is by dynoing the engine, i.e. out of the car

lol i used to be the only one answering questions thankfully there are now a few more that know more than me that can take over some

    Original Crew!

refering to my RRd figures these were wot i was given not wot i expected, Power Engineering were impressed with my ladies performance!! he even smiled as he got out everytime!! had 4 runs! i questioned the figures when i was there & he said to be honest sumtimes you just get a good engine that runs sweet & performs slightly beeter than the others, every engine is individual & treated differently so its no great suprise, 110bhp is no faulse figure! he wouldve happily run it again too. With no cat an open filter & the exhaust pipes straight through, using optimax fuel & a cold day, thats what i got!

Raysax & sassy have seen the print out & its laminated!!

    anyways back on topic...

i agree with you saying some engines are differnt cos av spanked 2 of mates vtr's with same mods as me a pull away quite easy

    also down to driver

    its all about the driver!

you think cos a was at crail a wee while ago and the track was quit wet they all managed to get better starts than me due to me spinin and ma bigger wheels but a could catch them no probs and beat them by at least 1-2 car lenths, then again they could be scared to hit the number plate with the big toe
  23. #23
Big toes & Number plates.. its all getting a lil silly now!! LMBO!
