does anyone know if you replace the center pipe without a silencer, would it still pass an mot and sound regulations.
my car is a saxo vtr 2001 with the cat still in the manifold.

The MOT sound check is purely subjective. There is no actual db limit but rather it is down to the testers opinion. Potentially they could fail anything that is notably noisier then a standard vehicle. Though most are a lot more friendly then that. This is the actual wording for a reason to fail a car

    Quote:
a silencer in such condition, or of such a type, that the noise emitted from the vehicle is clearly unreasonably above the level expected from a similar vehicle with a silencer in average condition.

in other words, if you know there going to be really strict or be an arsehole over it, dont give them your money and go somewhere else!
