Airlock?

  1. #1
I've just put everything back together to find that my car heats up very quickly. First thought was airlock, did the interior heater test and it was somewhat warm.

Since then, I've done a bleed and now heaters are blowing hot air... BUT! the car still heats up quickly and is getting to 3/4 or so before I turned the engine off.

I've done many bleeds before but this has stumped me... any suggestions?

Have you bled it properly (bottle onto of the expansion tank with all valves open)?

    Thermostat might not be opening.

I'm using the bottle method and can see water/coolant pouring out of the dust cap type bleed hole.

If thermostat isn't opening would that make it circulate the water/coolant from block to heater matrix but not go around to the Rad?

Reason is, Rad is cold and so is the pipe coming from the block to rad...

do your fans kick in ? remove thermostat and check in works in some boiling water

So it wasn't the thermostat that was the problem then? Are there any tests to check if it's water pump? Literally just put cambelt back on... really don't want it to be that!

Have you bled the air from all three points. I.e dust cap, thermostat housing and top of radiator?
