just had the mid box wiped out of my VTR sounds nice but was thinking bout a possible d-cat (4 branch) un desided

Go for it. But your sound pressure waves might not working at their best.

Youll get a nice raspy noise from de-catting too. And it revs much more freely.

it sounds nice as it is naw sounds like a little rally car but i think a d-cat will take it that little bit more in the ryt step , is yours d-cat'd ?

I'd go Dcat, if I didn't have to worry bout the MOT, then again there's always the backstreet garages that are willing to miss it...

sounds like a d-cat on pay day then , get a section 59 out against me lol

Yep, Ive decatted mine. Defo the next step mate. I really noticed the difference when I fitted mine.

What make of system are you running now?

i just gt a uni 4' bk box on it with full stainles pipe from the cat- bk
  8. #8
Just that I want mine to sound like a rally car.

My decat pipe is a 2inch bore so ask what bore the one you will be getting is and see if its the same as your existing system.

wat reg is your sax ? mine is 03 reg n with no mid box n 4' bk box it sounds great pops for fun it is a savage bk bok had it on ma last car but put it on ma sax n it is unreal

S reg. Ive got a scorpion backbox with standard centre section and decat. Its quite raspy but blows alot.

I did have it straight through but it blew alot so I whipped it off.

But as soon as I put my centre silencer back in, I noticed it did not rev as freely and it felt slower.

hmm well i had the problem of wen i gt ma mid box wiped out that is hissed a bit but had a cat-bk pipe on, it sounded more crist n raspy at high revs, i no that the newer vtr's are just a tad more power than the old ones is this write ?

Yes but they only upped the horsepower slighly due to new emmision laws. There is no difference on the road because the cat cancels the extra 8 brake out.

But you will have to get a manifold to decat yours.
Get a GMC 4-1. VTRs have good low down torque so a 4-1 would even it up nicely.

standard mk2 vtrs are around 8bhp more than standard mk1 vts the 8bhp does not get cancelled out by the cat

I agree with that like. my mate also got a GTi with a 4branch, full decatted system and his mid box taken out. It sounds amazing outside the car, total rally style but inside its soooo loud you cant drive for more than 10 mins without stopping for some headache tablets.

EDIT - May just be due to those extra 8 valves making it louder though. Mine sounds nice and Ive got the same setup as he has on my VTR.

True. 16 valve motor seem to be louder.
