3 plug vtr engine using single plug loom and ecu

    Just a quick one

A friend has an ax vtr conversion using a silver top engine with single plug

I'm looking at having the loom and ecu off him to run in my ax and will then need to source an engine near me

Just wanted to check if it would fit any of the vtr engines (I.e sensor plugs etc are all the same) or if I'd be restricted to the single plug engines

I know 16v single vs 3 plug use different sensors, didn't know if vtr are the same

    Oh, and mapping/fuelling Is irrelevant

    Thanks

tbh mate, if your going for a mk1 loom to mate an ax, id just look for a mk1 engine, you could get it to run onothers, but for the hassle of finding out sensors and plugs are a little diff, youd wish you hadnt wasted your time lol, plenty of good black tops about if you look, just makes life easier

or if you really want a 3 plug, pm ryanmt, hell probs be able to mate the 3 plug to the ax for you

    Fair point

What is it about the 3 plugs that give the extra 8hp, is it physical valve/cam specs or something else?

for the most part its better inlet design and ecu mapping going on what most believe, youf fit a black top you can get an s1 rallye inlet, much better inlet design

Cool, rallye inlet will be good with a turbo

    Thanks for your help mate
