Re-trimmed my door cards - Thoughts?

  1. #1
Decided to re-trim my door cards, the first attempt went fairly bad so going to re-do the passenger side when I get some more material.

Anyway here is a pic of the driver side which was my second attempt and came out a lot better.

I think it came out really well and looks great even though it has come up a little towards the back of the arm rest, had a small amount of material left so covered the speaker covers as well

One thing I did slightly different was how I put them back together. I didnt want to risk going right through and getting exposed screws so I decided to use a Glue gun which stuck it down really well.

No bad mate... covered the speaker grill haha make some pods that will set it off

Its good seeing people doing stuff theirselfs instead of buying everything already done.. Built not Bought i think the saying is.

Looks really good, not sure on the speaker cover.. probably looks better in person rather than photograph. Overall though good job.

Thanks, its been quite fun doing them and I have a few more plans for the car as well. Next my neighbor has said she will help me re-upholster the seats in the same material.

I quite like the speaker cover and yeah it does look better in person and tbh im crap when it comes to painting so this is an easy alternative lol.

    http://www.saxperience.com/forum/sho...make+door+pods

thats the link on how to do speaker pods ^^^

check my prog thread out too mines turned out well for first time

and as far as i know if your re-uphostering the interior your better off with an industrial sewing machine as house ones are pants

Thanks, yeah your pods are very nice, better than the carpet ones in the guide.

Once I have the seats finished and the engine bay tidied up I may just look at doing them.

My nan already had a go at doing a seat and actually it came out really good but instead of making the individual panels on the front she made one big piece which then left stitching exposed on the front and it didn't sit perfectly until a after a good few weeks use. Despite that it looked really good. Will have to get some pics up at some point.

orite cool... what material you using ? think it was maybe just leather house ones were no good for should have a look at wassy78's guide on it his work is amazing

Its faux leather so its not as tough or thick as normal leather. Just looks similar.

Yeah I had a good look at wassy78's work, amazing stuff. Kinda what made me decide to do mine and with dad working at a dealership I can get any parts I need at trade prices and all their valeting products. Went over and cleaned the car today, first time I have seen the alloys in months lol took two attempts with their high strength cleaner to get them clean.

Damn Wassy, its looking even better than it did last time I checked your progress thread.

What do u mean by "two bit" ? My neighbor has now offered to help, she has a good sewing machine as well and have some material left from the door cards to play with first. Just need to get the money to do them now, hopefully going to be getting a job at a local car dealership so will be able to get them done within 2 months

Got a bit more material to redo my other door card which should arrive tomorrow or Wednesday so I can get pics up of that one as well this weekend. Thinking about doing the headlining as well once I have the seats done.
