vtr or vts?

  1. #1
Im looking to buy another saxo either vtr or vts... both that im looking at are 2003 models.

VTS - has 50,000 on the clock lots of paperwork coming in at 2,000 with a full years mot tax intill july and also there going to do a full service!

VTR - has 35,000 on the clock coming in at 1,8000 full years mot and some tax left.

How much quicker is a VTS compared to a VTR ( never drove a VTR ).

    Thanks

First things first, How old are you?

Insurance at a young age on a VTS is silly money being insurance group 14, when a VTR is group insurance 7

Another thing that puts me off is when buying either a VTS or a VTR 8/10 they have been thrashed around lol

Insurance groups have changed to a 1-50 scale

    VTS is group 27
    VTR is group 14

Is a VTR alot more cheaper to run than a VTS petrol wise?
  10. #10
^^ a tenner in a vtr gets you about 80 miles, in a vts about 60 if thats any help mate.
  11. #11
    VTS all the way
  12. #12
If you want a fast car, take the VTS its like a 150 or 160BHP VTEC!
  13. #13
it looks like he knows what a VTS is like as he's owned one before, he just wants to compare the 2 as he aint drove a VTR before!

not really. I still get 45mpg out of my S even with a short ratio box. But there is the temptation to rag it around more in a VTS so fuel consumption does take a knock.

id get the vts, no hesitation

All depends on the money mate!, If you can afford a VTS get it , I also saw somewhere on here that VTS is 10 seconds faster then VTR 0-100

Really? My VTR used to keep up with my mates S upto 100 granted his was a ragged high mileage S and mine was a low mileage looked after R,

VTS undoubtedly alot quicker but dunno about 10 seconds less to 100?

how would a VTR compare to a corsa GSi as that was my last car before the VTS....

If its anything like the GSi i would be happy with a vtr
  24. #24
Get the S mate, you won't regret it and more potential. R's are for old people! lol!
  25. #25
Hmmm.... Im going to have another day or 2 to decide..

That VTS does seem abit pricey though at 2,000 suppose its got 51,000 on the clock though which is a good thing... seems to have alot of history with it but as i was saying earlier 8/10 a vts has been ragged ALWAYS risking buying one id say!

his vts must have been very broken. my 's was loads quicker than my 'r, and that was quicker than most of my friends vtr's
  27. #27
I own a vtr and vts, theres no comparison, id opt for the vts any day.
  28. #28
I've got a VTR but if i had the choice and could afford insurance i would definatly pick VTS. The VTR is still a good car but as JONAS said there is no comparison. If the VTS is in good condition try haggling to 1700 or so?

i've got a cammed mk1 VTS in posi blue that i might be selling if your interested, its a T reg and only done 69,000 miles.

definitely go for the VTS, I have a mk2 vtr, granted it's on 121k miles and the engines shot, it's very slow compared, why not take both out for a test drive and then decide or get them both checked out?
  32. #32
ive got a vtr, they aint slow but the vts is quicker. Theirs always more potential for performance with a vts because its twin cam, i cammed my vtr, to around 120bhp, if id spent an extra 200 - 300 quid with a vts id of had maybe a 140-160bhp car, which is a tad faster vts all the way mate, otherwise you will end up forking nearly 2 grand on a turbo kit like i am

I've got an s but tax is bloody expensive 240 for a year! Maybe another factor to consider?!
