keep hearing different things bout puttin a vtr box on my vts some say its good and some say its not so good so dont no what to do
  2. #2
not unless you want to kill the perofmance in gear
  3. #3
depends what you want out of your VTS

if your looking for acceleration then the shorter ratio's of the VTS box will be much better

if you look for economy and lower revs at motorway cruising speed then go for a VTR box
  4. #4
mite just stick with the vts box then dont want to loose performance
  5. #5
keep hearing different things so not sure what to do

VTR_Craig has summed it up rather well. If people have told you different odds are they are confused.

    Just keep the VTS box

ive ran both on my vts never noticed any difference my brother has a 1.1 gear box on his 106gti and he says he does not notice a difference in acceleration just top speed

I was wondering about the 1.1 box as my vts has a vtr box on(bought it like it), it goes well enough it's just hitting over 70mph in second leaves me bored i would rather be stiring the box a bit more, coming off a roundabout in 2nd the revs are too low for good acceleration.
Looking at the gearbox ratio thread it seems the 1.1 box would be better for me as first & second gear are similar to the vts box but third & fourth are shorter, fifth being a bit longer(than vts box) for cruising(see below). I'd imagine the(slightly)shorter third & forth to help with the lack luster time getting from 60-100.

If im going from a vtr box to a 1.1 surely i'll notice the difference?
