Important! : quite serious problem.

   ok so my power steering broke i while ago. Bought a new PAS pump and fitted as it was leaking a huge amount.
   
   To cut the story short it was the steering rack i have knocked and is leaking but when i fitted the new pump this happened...
   
   the fluid leaked straight out of the steering rack and the PAS pump set on fire!!!
   
   can anyone help me out or seen this happen before!?!?

   I'm guessing that obviosuly when you put the new pump and fluid in, it pumped all the fluid out of the leak, which meant the pump was running dry , overheated and set on fire! Although i've never seen a p/s pump on fire before lol.
   
   So best bet would just to sort out the leak you've got in your rack, get a new pump and start again

   yeah thanks, we did the fluid around for a while before turning the engine on incase of this but it went straight up.
