Replacing panels, colour match?

  1. #1
If I was to replace the panels from a black saxo with ones from another mk2 black saxo, would there be any noticable difference in the paint shade or would it match perfectly?

    Cheers

do they have the same colour codes?

I prosume theres only one black but assuming they do have the same?

Reaosn I ask is I once changed a panel to one from another car which I thought was the same colour, and it didn't match, granted this was a mazda not a saxo though.

Colour match will never be 100% match as all cars are treated differently (i.e washed/environment/waxed regularly) and are of different age and mileage. If you want "perfect"- respray is the only realistic way... and yes there is only one type of black for a saxo.

Ah I see, so spraying and blending is the way to go?

Will it be terribly noticable if both look like clean looked after examples?

Use a cutting compound the colours won`t be 100% as already said but won`t be as bad

Best thing about is that its black, probably one of the best colours to match.

    Rightt, cheers for the help.

Basically it has some damage to one corner of the bonnet, not sure if thats repairable.
Also the wing has a small patch at the bottom where the paints come off and started to surface rust, I assume from a rushed or dodgy paint job.

I guess the bonnets better to try replace with a same colour one, the wing however it may be better to repair the area and attempt a decent blending job on it? I've done it before on my old dark blue car, again on the wing....was pretty much un noticable....so those who have experience with paint work, would this be a better route to take?

    Cheers
