Important! : Replaciing N/S Driveshaft

  1. #1
Have just replaced the n/s driveshaft on my mk 2 saxo vtr, (one of the few jobs that needed doin b4 putting on the road) which when tightening the hub nut up, I just wanged it up.

Thing is when driving i get a whirring type noise that sounds like its coming from passenger footwell.

Is there a certain amount of torque that the nut has be tightened up to.

Also got to top up the gearbox oil, but thinking of replacing totally instead.

    Cheers

PS. Not got a manuual yet.

    Thanks 4 the swift reponse.

    I have 4 torque wrenches.

    And guess wot?

None of them have a high enough setting, so only managed to torque uptp 220 nm.
Fingers xed this should be sufficent.

Also this noise thats bee bugging me since doin the driveshaft has been going on 4 a week.

Bought the car but never took it out till i did all the jobs that i thought needed doin.

So when i took it out for the 1st time n heard the whirring noise i thought it was the wheel bearing as i just cranked up the hub nut.

after a good look around the car and removing all 4 whheels to check the brakes (again) I noticed that when i spun the O/S rear wheel the noise was apperent.

Took a look under car and behind wheel to see what was catching.

Turned out my hand brake cable had come out of the plastic clip type thing and was ruubing against the inside of the wheel.

    Another job done.
