hi guys,i have a rumbling noise comeing from the passenger side front,it seems ok at low speeds but when i go faster it comes in,and the quicker i get the quicker it rumbles.i had the wheel bearing done on friday, there was no rumbling or anything when i picked it up but a few days later it started again.also ive jacked the car up to c if there is any play in the wheel and there is.there is a noise when i turn corners aswell.i would be very grateful if someone could help me,its doin my nut in lol.thanks

Sounds like all they may have done is packed the bearing with grease to get rid of the noise for the time being so you may find its leaked out and the bearing has dried up causing the noise. Or the bearing has been fitted wrong, take it back to the and complain about it a bearing should not go in such a short space of time. If it does turn out to be the bearing and they fix it again ask them to see the old part to make sure they have changed it.

hi there thanks for reply.they have defo changed the bearing,i have the old one in my possesion.the noise seems to be gettig worse and worse, ive checked the driveshaft tht seems fine.im thinking it may hae something to do with the disc possibly, warped maybe, when i take the wheel off and move the hub etc the disc moves like hell outwards and it has the screws in it.the noise feels and sounds like its rubbing and thts making the rumbling slash scraping noise etc.thanks

after having a closer look under the car i have come across what looks and smell like gearbox oil.it looks to be leaking from the top part of the driveshaft which goes to the gearbox on the passenger side.would this cause the knocking and rumbling noises.it is goin to the garage tomoz but i would rather try and establih the problem so i dont get fobbed off.any help would greatly be appreciated.thanks guys

If the oil smells kind of like cat piss(excuse the description) and is leaking from behind the driveshaft then chances are your gearbox seals have gone which means the box has started to dry up which would explain the noise.

been to the garage today, been advised to buy a new strut,as he mentioned there is to much play in the wheel, but it has had a new bearing,so hence the new strut.it sounds as if its definately in the front wheel, and you can definately feel ii in the footwell.cud any of the bushes be knackered.sorry to be asking loads of questions,as you can probs tell im not mechanically minded lol.thanks

It could be ball joints as well. Its easy for people to throw loads of suggestions out but to actually define the problem really you need to see the problem and hear the noise for yourself.
