how many miles SHOULD i be getting out of a 1.1 for this?

currently getting 90-100 of town driving and im not sure if thats right.

just wondering what everyone else is getting.

engine is fairly shagged to be fair, but not got the funds to get a new one so once it dies will be scrapped

£20 should get you more than that, I get around 50 miles for £10 on my VTR with exhaust blowing

£20 here gets you just over 15 litres which in my VTS is 100-110 miles
  4. #4
Definitely should be more than that. About 150+ I reckon.

My R used to get 150-200 to £20 of Morrisons dishwasher water petrol.

depends on how you drive?? i have a vtr and can get 140 miles for £20 one week and then only 80 the next. depends if you want to granny drive all the time. but thats no fun!

    For TOWN driving though guys.

As said it's about 15 litres but as to the mileage you're suppose to be getting town driving is very subjective. Central london driving compared to driving in Darlington is slightly different. But you should hopefully get 110 miles maybe if you're doing ok

hmm so it's definately not as economical as it should be !!

i drive ""normally" 99% of the time, it's only a 1.1 so going fast isn't an option, i do however give it a bit of stick occasionally lol.

£20 i get 116 mileage 15 liters at the mo if it dont go up any more
  9. #9
As mentioned, £20 will only get about 15 litres these days so gone are the days when people could get 200 miles out of £20!!

I remember when petrol was 79.9p a litre.......

I reckon 90-100 miles could be about right for town driving if you have a heavyish foot

Assuming you drive economically, you would probably push 150-170 miles from £20 in a 1.1

    Some days I get 30miles to £20.

Others I can get up to 100miles.

That's my VTR though, I can't remember what my 1.1 did lol.

    I was gona say! Lol.

79p ay? Hmm it'll never be that low again now we're burning it all

Also, the Ethanol content is getting stupid!

to be fair mate its a difficult one to judge due to the massive diffrence in fuel prices, ive fot a 1.1 forte and myne will do bout 120miles on £20 but i drive a little foot heavy ,its not always about flooring it, like i said amount of fuel, type of fuel, road condition, stop start driving are all factors in fuel consumption.

one suggestion though, i know its more expensive but if u can, fill the tank completely with a premium unleaded, normaly about 1.30 a ltr and let that run through, it helps to clear the crap out of the fuel tank.

oo one last thing, with an old car u should always use the 1/4 tank mark as empty, the lower u go the more silt from the bottom of the tank u suck up causing issues which effect fuel economy

    (p.s sorry for the essay)

Very true, although I am a tit and normally wait 'til the light comes on lmao.

But yes, it's true and older cars tend to have quite a bit of water in them also!

From my 1.0 I'm getting about 150 miles from £20.
  23. #23
Im getting around 120 Miles on £20 in my 1.4 Furio
  24. #24
Other week on a run, I got a whole 112 miles to 20 quid, didn't help that I was driving like a stabbed rat that day.
  25. #25
Put 20 in the last week, done 240ish miles since then and it was just on the light when i filled it up and just hit the light again.

1.1 forte, totally stripped though and I barely use the brakes or rev past 4k revs.
  26. #26
I get 110 miles ish to 20 quid in my vtr, but I always use shell vpower, and they are all motorway miles. so I would probably get more on cheaper petrol, but my car runs like crap on the cheaper shell stuff, idles rough and that

This weekend I drove over 400 miles with Shell's unleaded blood - the light never came on, but I didn't dare drive further in case I couldn't find another petrol station.
  29. #29
I did 140 miles and that used about a 3rd of a tank on mainly motorway driving some town driving, thats on a saxo 1.1 mpi with a induction kit, 4-1 mani, de cat, sportex cat back exhaust
  30. #30
Vts standard engine, I get 120 off £20 weekly
  31. #31
I get 120 - 140 for 20 quid on my vtr and that's town driving i very rarely take mine over 3k
  32. #32
Yer. i got a slipping clutch, and i get about 100-120 miles to a £20. and i dont always drive conservatively

would be hoping for about 500 miles to £20 if i was shamed enough to drive a 1.1

I managed to get 239.5 miles before my light came on that was £40 petrol so around 30 litres, i dont think its too bad considering it got booted abit and has a decat etc.
