Gearbox squeak

    Right Guys,

Car has developed a squeak coming from a gearbox and does it when not in gear + when the clutch is dipped however only does it at idle and when the engine is warm the noise dissapears?

Any ideas guys as when the clutch is raised slightly the noise vanishes too so I went about adjusting the clutch cable thinking it may be a little overtightened but that made no difference either so I'm thinking clutch bearing possibly?

Any ideas would be appreciated guys?

Sounds like the bearing is on its way out mate will need to be replaced soon as they can do quite quickly.

As above, definately sounds like the release bearing. Had the same problem on my old vtr

Was hoping that wasn't gonna be the case but I also read somewhere it could possibly be the clutch arm needs greasing as the noise is only when the gearbox is in neutral or when the clutch is dipped when stood still - definately the bearing then?

Sounds very much so try greasing the fork up by all means but you may find the sound gets worse and starts to happen dipping the clutch whilst driving as well.

Thats a shame but I have come up with a solution that has stopped the noise for the time being so we'll just have to wait and see
