Ignition wires get hot + ignition/starter switch installation

Hello to all saxo fans =)

I had a weird electric fault with my restyle VTS – my ignition and starter switch melted down (short circuit with the metal barrel of the lock?). Had to remove it and for some time I drove just connecting the wires. I connected all the wires (2 big red ones, orange and yellow – might be wrong with the color of the last one), used the blue one to start the engine. But I notices that the red wires are warming up and get hot. May be I have some kind of electric fault which caused the initial problem with the melted lock? Or is this high temperature is caused only by bad connection (I just tie`em up). I am planning to use 2 switches – one for ignition and the other for starter. Is it ok to use just a switch for ignition or I’d better go with the relay (high voltage?). I need to clear this rising wires temperature problem before I can go on with the switch installation.

Yes, I am completely incompetent in those electric stuff… =(

Please help, I am really eager to race this winter season till it’s over!!!

thanks a lot, mate! the problem is i am in Russia and thinking about DIY switch - dont want to order it and wait for a long time
also the metal barrel there the standard switch sits is broken (the former owner broke it then lost the key and i continued trying to get the switch out...

as log as i see the problem is in the switch only, will try to install DIY switch and report the progress!
