Starting

   Not sure if its a starting problem or not, but when I start the ol' girl up she revs to about 2000rpm, then drops to below 1000rpm to around 750rpm, then comes back up.. Whats the problem?
   
   
   and no.. my foot isnt on the accelerator

   my first thoughts would be icv, but im a novice myself. see what the other guys say.

   My saxo does a similar thing but then the rev`s drop back to around 950-1000rpm`s I don`t think its anything to worry about.Only if if he car starts revving high on its own when its in traffic then thats a sign of an Idle control valve either wants cleaning or renewing.

   shouldv'e asked, is it all the time, or only when the cars first started from cold?

   sounds fairly normal then, after a few minutes does it settle down?

   Yeah, it only does it when started up pal, then stops.. was just making sure it wasnt anything serious!

   Had 3 saxo's all done same thing mate
