Lighter fly wheel

I am aware you can buy them already lightend, but i know you can also have your orginal one skimmed, ive heard good and bad about these, bad mainly being that they can crack due to heat spots, is this true ??

I enquired about having mine lightened on here, apparently some of the cup car boys have had issues with them exploding lol

yeah thats the problem i have, the people who have said they will crack have track cars, so im wondering so i save myself a shit load of money n get it skimmed, as i dont drive fast round my way lol

The standard flywheel can be moderately lighten as long as your engine is tune is not over the top. The issue is though there not that strong to start with and due to there age now some would not take kindly to being lighted. A few have failed on full race engines though it is unclear if this is due to over doing how much you take off and or the revs involved. A flywheel failure is not something you wish to experience.

so basically would it be alryt on a vtr engine with breather mods and exhaust mods nothing to mager
how much can u skimm it by and were can u get it done
