im thinking about getting faulkner to make me some springs to lower my vtr 70mm. Id like them about the same stiffness as the spax 60mm springs, so quite stiff, as i think if its too soft it may bottom out all the time. does anyone know what spring rate etc. id need? i have spax vsx dampers also if that makes any difference. thanks
What poundage springs do i need?

#2Spax springs are soft.
They're around 120lb.
On spax dampers I wouldnt go anymore than 140 as a max lb -
#3Also, I dont think you will be able to go 70mm lower on standard spring pan and I.D setup as it will unseat from the spring pan when rebounding or when the damper is at its maximum travel.
Anything more than 60mm and you will need to look at coilovers. Dont forget the travel of the damper when going lower and to look at either your own setup or a reccomended setup unlike the eBay, Vmaxx type kits you can buy. -
#4well i already have the 60mm spax springs, and they just dont seem to be as low as other peoples 60mm lowered saxos

would an extra 10mm lower on the same spring pan really make much of a difference? what does ID setup mean? -
#5It could do. I wouldnt want to chance it, will either be a waste of money or if you stick with it, it could be quite dangerous. Even with some 60mm springs they unseat and you have to twist them back into position.
ID = 'Internal Diameter' of the spring. -
#6ok cheers for the help.
my current springs have never moved and have been on nearly a year.
in 2 minds whether to risk it or not

#7I think your car looks good as it is
Think how much 10mm actually is, do you think the 10mm difference will really change the appearence of the car? If anything you will want to change 20mm at a time to see a difference, meaning 80mm low which will definatly require coilovers.

#8thanks mate, well 10mm does make a slight difference and tbh a slight difference is all im really after.
say if i wanted faulkner to make me some springs. what info would i need to tell them? 120lb spring rate & i want them to lower the car 70mm or what? -
#9120lb rate
Saxo Standard ID (which im unsure of) If you say 'Saxo Standard ID' they will know.
Im not sure on length as ive never had any made for this spec. Be worth having a look on this forum what what length poeple have used before for certain mm drops and work out what you need. Most people will have a higher spring rate, and as you require a lesser rate they will obviously settle slightly lower with the weight of the car than what a higher lb spring would. Might be abit hit and miss unless you manage to find someone who has done exactly the same before.
Without looking into it properly or working it out, I think you will be looking at around 230mm length springs. Dont take my word for it though. -
#10ok cheers mate ill have a research
-
#11you will most likely fail your mot with 230 mm springs.
