Gearbox problem Saxo Auto 1.4

   Hi guys,
   
   I have a 1999 Automatic Saxo 1.4 which I was driving along a busy road when I accelerated round a corner and heard a loud clunk.
   
   Felt like it slipped out of gear and I lost acceleration, slowing down to a stand-still. Couldn't put it in drive, 1st or 2nd gear. Weird thing though is it can still drive in reverse.
   
   Is the gearbox completely done or do you think it's a relatively easy fix? Really appreciate any advice.

   Have you checked the auto transmission fluid? When was it last changed? It's important that it's in good condition and at the right level..

   Check the colour of the fluid it should be a pinky red colour,the other thing to do is drain out the fluid and change the filter.As the oil strainer gets blocked.Are there any fluid leaks etc?If you`ve still got reverse than thats a good sign.

   sorry but sounds like the forward drive clutches in the box have gone,if it was fluid related you'd have lost drive in reverse as well

   When my ZX auto box packed up we drained the oil out from the box to find pieces of metal coming out in the oil as well.If I can find the link theres a breaker on ebay breaking an automatic saxo.Plus Jason your probs 100% on this mate i`m just going from past autoboxes that have packed up on me.

   auto boxes on saxos aren't too strong really, just see how many crop up for sale with box problems
