rough idle

Ok, from reading the specs on my cams my idle should not be as bad as it is.

It is off and on - sometimes it will start and idle fine for a bit, then poorly and the revs will drop below 800rpm.

If the cars been ragged a bit, and its warm it will just cut out when i drop the clutch.

Ive so far changed the ICV and TPS with no change after an ECU reset stepper motor reset.

Id like to clean and visually inspect all hoses associated with the inlet system, is the best way to do this just by removing the TB?

Next would be timing check, lambda sensor and coilpack, then map sensor?

I'd say coilpack first, mine has been similar to yours, mines had map sensor, ICV, coolant temp sensor, and in the post is a lambda, TPS, fuel filter, and ordering a coilpack on Tuesday, I'll let you know how it goes

If you have a mate with the same model saxo, the try swapping coil packs over.

    Steve.

    It might just be shagged?
  5. #5
Yeah because thats what happens isnt it? Its just shagged and it wants scrapping? Get a grip.

Thanks for the above, it seems its a common problem throughout the VTS's and i know a lot of people have mentioned changing the coilpacks - im just trying to check the free stuff first. I reckon ill kick myself if i find it later.

I had this problem and it was holding back, it was the lambda but it still randomly cuts out sometimes when i put the clutch down coming upto junctions etc and i have now found the cause of it, the wire on the alternator is loose. Check your alternator wiring. Why it cause it to cut out i dont know but it does on mine i think its something to do with the volt drop, i have heard the 16v can be weird when it comes to alternators and what they can cause.

Sweet thanks for the tip mate

Do coil pack and lambda first mate probs your problem right there

Someone said the exact same thing but with the TPS and ICV..Ill just have to throw sensors at it i think

well mine was running like a dog spluttering etc and idling rough. i changed the icv, tps, coolant temp all of them and still no change new coilpack and boom correct. still spluttered so changed lambda and now runs nice and new

cool, my bays in bits at the moment while i sort the gearbox out so maybe when its all back together
