Melting fuses?

  1. #1
    Hi peep,
My just went out to my car to warm it up and the heater blower is not working (again).... checked the fuse and its blown it and burnt most the plastic.

This is the 2nd time its done this now. But last time i had a new heater motor fitted after as the other one was naff.

What would cause this any ideas?

A 30 or 40 amp fuse will get hot before it blows. Just be thankful it melt at the fuse not the wiring ... loom wires won't take much more than 40 amps before they melt.

... same goes for relays. The rear window should have a timer on it really... if you feel the negative terminal on the yellow rear window relay after its been on for half an hour it will be far too hot cos its at its maximum rating. Another shit design

... if your asking why its blowing the fuses, a faulty motor... but more likely a short in the circuit somewhere if you have just had a new one fitted.
