Rattling noise on exhaust, no not the clamps!

Basically theres a rattling noise comming from the exhaust of my mk 2 vtr.

Ive tried all the clamps and they are all tight as can be.

Its comming from more of the middle of the car than anything else, i've been told it could be a colapsed cat.

The previous owner said if i run a strong magnet along the exhaust that it would get all of the metal out as he said its from the welding that has been done.

If its the cat, could i swap cats over from my Mark 1 1.1 Saxo and put it on my Mark 2 vtr or wont they fit?

I've got the same problem, happened since i removed the exhaust heat shield, on mine its one of the rear brake pipes rattling on the exhaust pipe, only seem to get it when i'm setting off though.

Don't know if that's any use to you but thought i'd let you know

    Really?

This might be my problem.. (ive recently had new brake pipes)

I have only drove it up to 30mph as it has no tax until later on today.

And it does seem to go quieter the faster I go..

Does yours rattle when stationary aswel?

I just had this, when i looked under the car the clamps looked ok. It turned out to be one of the stupid spring loaded clamp things that holds the cat to the downpipe.

one had sheard the large washer off and was rattling about, but as it was the one closest to the engine i couldnt see if from underneath. I only found it when i took the exhaust off.
