Power steering pump?

    Hugh whining noise come from car but when turn it goes a away for a bit then comes back, sometimes if i go down a pot hole then turn car off then turn it back on power steering wont work then i purposly go down a pot hole and then power steering comes back on, Must be the pump, is there anything i can do other than buy a new pump to fix it?

    sometimes tapping it lightly with a hammer kickstarts it again, but may only be a temporary solution. may ned a new pump mate.

    if you use the search button theres litteraly 100s of threads about this.

    seems to be a very common problem.

    basically the noise is some brushes that are getting seized, and when you tap it, it can sometimes kickstart it again.

    But it works and still makes the noise its pritty loud aswell, when the cars running its working just a hugh whine, funny if i go down pot hole turns its on tho!

    when you turn the steering wheel does the noise get louder and quieter?

    probably the sudden bang stops it making that noise, thats why i suggested tapping it with a hammer.

    Its like a droning noise like its struggling and then it will disapear for a while lol, Why hit the top of it tonight with a hammer hope it solves it

    Get it re-conned?

    Doesnt cost as much as a new one but still a bit pricey..

    i just gave someone a PAS pump for a vtr for free, shame you didn't have this problem 2 weeks back lol.

    you need a new one pal i had this replaced it problemoo solved its the motor!

    Had the exact same problem, kept having to tap it with hammer/driving over bumps but eventually that won't work anymore and it'll stop working completely, just got scrapyard and get one for £30.

    Well at least its that problem, Never changed one before is it a simple thing to do?

    very easy, 1st think i ever did on a saxo.
