idle problem

    on two occasions today whilst sitting idle my car drops revs dramatically do any of you have any ideas what could be the problem

    it could be ur stepper motor.

    you got a vts by any chance cause mine does that! just drops too about 400rpm then kicks up to about 1000rpm straight the way again.

    I had problems with my revs. The car used to rev itself to the point where you could put it in gear and it could drive itself round the car park

    The stepper motor is a common fault but mine turned out to be the temperature cooling sensors needed changing

    I'm not sure if its the same problem but it might be worth a try :Y:

    It's a different problem... mine was over reving and i too had to change my engine temperature sensor...
    If you car is under reving it is most likely to be your coilpack or your stepper motor although it could be any number of sensors... it is a very common problem in many cars..
