what wheel bearing

took my front right strur out of the furio and the wheel bearing is knackered. noticed that it is tapered and a non-tapered shaft. asked a mate who works at a motor factor says its either 35mm and 37mm. no abs.

just wondering which one i get?

Get the non-tapered one. Thats why your bearing failed.

If you have verniers, measure the diameter of the hub at the back.

but i am wondering why i was given the option of 35 and 37mm. is the non-tapered bearing 35mm and the tapered one 37mm or vice versa???

or are they all 35/37mm just worry about tapered or not?

the inner joint of the non-tapered driveshaft is abit clunky. the original driveshaft and bearings of the car are tapered. so would it be alright having different on either side of the car?

    any info appreciated

    thanks, dee

The taper is on the hub.

The wrong bearing physically won't fit. You won't be able to press it back onto the strut.

IF the wrong shaft has been fitted, the only way to sort it out is to change the shaft, or change the hub.

aye the mechanic fitted a non-tapered shaft onto a tapered bearing and it just ate it. hub and bearing come in one piece that needs to be pressed into the strut?

thanks for you reply aswel mate

You will need to change the hub then. Or the shaft.

I'm not sure if you can buy the hub and bearing together. May have to buy them separate.

IMO, the cheapest option for you would be to get a complete strut off a scrappy. A westcoast strut most probs.

As long as the bearing is ok, then you can just swap the strut over.
