    Hi

As promised here are some pics from todays welding

First i cut some plates out. One for the outside:

And one for the inside. Welding taking place on the inside first.

Then gave a lick of Zinc spray to prevent further rusting

Then welded on the outer plate

    Then tidied up the welds

Ready for a lick of zinc inside and out

Also found a patch of rust that needs doing under the front right arch

    So prepped her up

    And welded a plate

    Add paint and job done

This will be followed by an anti stone chip paint similar to manufactures spec.

    Hope you like

good job mate only thing to say is i would of seam welded the plate all way round less likely to get water and dirt trapped in behind it later on in life but i guess you probley won't have it when that happens so wouldn;t worry

but atlest you have done it nice and tidy unlike some of the pigeion shit i see on some car at work when people weld them up there self

You spot welded it????? my 02 furio is starting to get a little rusty.

Hmm Least you used a good MIG.

I'd have seam welded it though, spot welding isn't really good enough.

You seem to have made a good job of the welds though, No Holes.

Are you going to seam it or leave it tacked on like that?

Id have seem welded it, give it more strength plus spot welding dont really keep the water out lol.

Exactly why I said that lol.

To me, spot welding it isn't finishing it, like leaving it half done

Thanks, Yes seam weld was an option but this causes the metal to be too ridged and therefore brittle. So we spot welded and then used sealant to stop the moisture etc

    Spot welded and then sealed

Its being left as it is but more work has been done since to tidy it up.

The manufacturers use spot welds to allow the chassis to flex a little, if everything was seamed the car would break apart

The guy who did the welding owns a body shop so i was happy to take his advice

Haha yeah you are right im not a very good welder, but i might be one day

Once i new it needed welding i thought it should be seamed but the welder felt otherwise
