Important! : passangers side brake calliper

  1. #1
my saxo has been crap on braking for weeks changed the pads due to knocking and juddering when braking while chnging pads noticed piston was stuck on so prized it back in and changed pads knocking stopped but still juddering put that down to wheel ballancing but not sorted it yet and been out today to see a puddle of brake fluid under wheel and felt round calliper and its all wet with fluid near the piston so i reckon piston seals gone

am i right ? and would it be better replacing the caliper or repairing it
and how much would a caliper set me back?

    thanks

New caliper and pads again, i think a caliper is around the £50 area with surcharged knocked off, probs best getting a secondhand one cheap. Its not worth repairing the seals in calipers these days unless its an expensive caliper.

Your probably talking around £25 for a second hand one. There is 3 different types of calipers on the 1.1s from what i remember, does yours have the 2 pins that hold the pads in or the clips? if its the clips the vtr maybe the same.

think its like a metal clip at back of the caliper

Ohh, i didnt see that you mentioned rears.

I've got some vts/gti brakes you can have, £25 plus £12.50 postage.

They're the ones with vented discs, i assume that having a flatarch means you've got solid discs? They're a direct fit but i dont have any discs... just the normal gti/vts/vtr discs are what you need.

Can get them posted out first class too.
