    ive searched for how easy/hard it is to tint your own windows but just wondering whether its worth having a go yourself or just getting someone to do it for you? and also how much would people consider a decent price for all excluding the windscreen? cheers

    It is easy to do , My dads an auto electrician, hes being doing it since the start. But my opinion is pay someone to do it for what its worth. Hes had so many people come in with DIY jobs, asking for him to remove and retint.

    If you buy flat sheets of tint on ebay its hard as the back windows are curved and you will struggle not getting creases. Would reccomend getting precut ones as they come with the right curvature, cost like £25 posted on ebay for 3 back windows, ideal!

    I did my wife's Rav4 and my MG ZS, the rear window on the Rav I did in 3 pieces, hiding the join along the heating wires but when I did my ZS I used the 'heat shrink' method where you heat the creases with a heat gun and they shrivel up so you can then get it to lye flat. The side windows on the Rav were quite easy but were a real pig on the ZS.

    The film was less than a tenner (use 3 in total to do both cars due to mistakes!) off ebay and seem to be lasting OK. The results are OK, there are a few small bubbles and a couple of creases on my ZS but the Rav looks really good IMO.

    Get a roll off ebay for a tenner and have a go, it is not easy and you will swear alot while doing it but when it goes right it is very satisfying!

    And the wife's Rav4;

    Saxo's are fairly easy to tint yourself. You can buy pre-cut tints from ebay. The only hard bit is doing the rear window the rear sides come out.
