need help plz!!!!!

   hi guy's
   need a bit of help please if you can.just bought my first vts and having a few problems with it.need i say.ha ha.
   
   anyway first of all,have alot of play at the track rods (not the ends) seems the pinch bolt that connects to the steering rack will not tighten and just wants to keep turning.is there anything i've missed as it is really loose and scary to drive sometimes.HELP.
   
   serviced the car yesterday and cleaned all sensors as the idle was quite lumpy and noticed that the spark plugs where black with soot which means it's running quite rich,what would cause this????.car is standard apart from an open air filter.

   Lumpy idle is common, if you give it a search there is loads of thngs to read on,
   
   I did read that a faulty lambda sensor can be the cause of the idle and could also explain why the car is running rich.
   
   Other solutions include, new fuel filter, clean ICV + body
   
   Id give them a go and see what happens

   cheers mate,
   change fuel filter and clean the icv and throttle sensor and also map sensor help a small bit but not much,i'll give the lambda a try then.
   
   anyone else know what i could do about my steering issue as that is my main worry first.
